Coal supplies to power plants up 7.3%: Coal ministry

<p>Coal India has supplied 407.02 million tonnes coal to power sector in the current year, a growth of 7.3% over the same period last year, a statement issued by the coal ministry <br>As on Feb 4, the average rake loading of Coal India to power sector including loading from washeries and good-sheds is 252.5 rakes per day, growth of 13% over same period of last year <br><br>The supply is likely to further increase after opening of the Dhanbad-Chandrapura line which shall facilitate faster evacuation of coal from Bharat Coking Coal Limited subsidiary of CIL. <br><br>“The increased coal supply has resulted in building up of comfortable coal stock at the end of the thermal power plants. As on Feb 4, power plants are having 20.870 million tonnes coal stock which is sufficient for 13 days. This is an increase of 42% over the stock of same period of last year. The coal stock at thermal power plants on Feb 4 was 14.68 million tonnes.<br><br> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
