Tamil Nadu Goes Green: New Company to Drive Renewable Energy Push

  • TANGEDCO Split: The existing Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) will be divided into two separate entities: Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited (for generation) and Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (for distribution).
  • TEDA Merger: The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) will be merged into the TNGECL, bringing its expertise and experience to the new company.
  • Broad Scope: TNGECL will oversee all aspects of renewable energy in the state, including existing and upcoming projects, clean energy expansion, technology development, investment attraction, and grid integration.
