Directive on Mandatory Use of ALMM-Listed Solar Modules in Tamil Nadu Solar Projects.

Sub: NCES - Approved Models and Manufactures of Solar Photovoltaic Modules (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) order 2019 - to be implemented - Reg.

1. The MNRE vide Office Memorandum (OM) dt: 02.01.2019 has issued "Solar Photovoltaic System, Devices and Components Goods (Requirement for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2017 vide Government of India Gazette Notification No. 2561, dt: 05.09.2017.
2. The above reference order of this Ministry and amendments thereof had been inter-alia to ensure the quality of solar cells, and solar modules used in solar power plants in addition to promoting the "Make in India" mission.
3. The MNRE vide various OM has given guidelines and extended the implementation of the erection of only ALMM-listed solar modules by the captive users.
4. The NCES is the nodal agency for implementing solar projects in Tamil Nadu and is issuing In-principle approval for all the projects to be commissioned in the state of Tamil Nadu.
5. The MNRE vide OM dt: 29.03.2024 has finally communicated that the ALMM (Approved List of Models and Manufactures) for solar PV modules shall come into effect from 1st April 2024.
6. Hence it is hereby requested to implement the compliance of erection of only ALMM Listed solar modules, in the solar projects to be commissioned and grid tie-up approval may be issued after due verification.
